Determining Your Skin Condition

Determining Your Skin Condition

Acne

In order to understand why acne happens, we have to begin at the source: the oil glands. These glands produce the oil that may cause skin to breakout. The excess oil clogs the follicle and creates an impaction. In response to the large amount of oil and chemical reactions, the pore closes with the debris inside. This is commonly called a whitehead. When shaved too closed the hair is cut below the skin and instead of growing straight out of the hair follicle, the curly hair begins to coil and grow into neighboring skin. The skin reacts to the invading hair by becoming irritated and bumpy, which results in dark spots and skin discoloration.
